This is the last word...

...about the lilies I promise!
Every last one of the buds opened, I can't believe it.
I bought these lilies twelve days ago.
What a profusion of blooms.
I think this is one of the best fivers I have ever spent in my life.

And now, I promise, I'm so over the lilies.
May even blog about knitting one day soon, ya never know :-)

One last bud is unopened on the stem second from the right.
Handling the flowers to pose this picture caused the bud to open.

So, what's next?

A bit of lace knitting I suspect!

There are absolutely horrendous problems associated with moving into our new school building and stress levels are the highest we've seen since, oh let's see, since we packed up our old school! I don't want to say too much about it because folk can get into the muck neck-deep by going into such details on their blogs but this too will pass. Hopefully sooner rather than later, pleeeaaaase!

So, I'm taking my mind off it by shopping the stash for some unlabelled hand-painted mohair yarn. I'm not sure of the exact composition, but it feels very like the Colinette mohair, which is 78% mohair, 13% wool, 9% nylon. A little bit of balling and simple lace do a buddy good.

If you know me in real life and know where I work, please don't comment, "ah yes, that East Utopia Council are always like that" etc. :-)

This ball looks totally out of focus, but if you notice the pattern on the bedcover is quite clear. The yarn really is that fuzzy!

On the swift.
I bought this yarn at the SECC Hobbycrafts in 2004 I think.

Knitted up. Sitting on top of a supplies box as you can see.
Colours nice, the turquoise is quite dominant.
Really fuzzy and knits up quickly.
More pattern details to follow.

Six new babies

Six new blooms opened in my bouquet overnight.
How can I tell?
The minute I spot those dangly stamens I whip the little darlings out.
I don't mean to go on about it, and I have had nice flowers before, but what's impressing me about these is that so many are fresh and in their prime at the one time.
I've a funny feeling I'll be back at the Willie's Lilies stall.

P.S. I moved the stitch marker. x K

Cheer up bouquet

What do you think of my back-to-work-cheer-me-up bouquet?
I got these on Saturday at
Partick Farmers Market
from the Willie's Lilies stall.
Aren't they beautiful?

The more observant among you will notice a small green padlock to the left of the grate- yes a wanton stitch marker.
It's strange the way I see things so much more clearly in photographs than in real life. Maybe I should walk about with a view-finder.
Please understand I am not in agonies that a stray stitch marker is lying around my otherwise immaculate home- oh how we laughed. It gives that extra knitters' appeal anyway. ;-)
